Tom's work

Starting his career at Lohan Associates for his first seven years as an Architect, he worked his way up from draftsman and designer to project management and full time site representative during construction. Projects were typically large corporate campuses including The McDonald's Corporation Headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, The Frito Lay National Headquarters in Plano, TX, and the Discover Card National Headquarters in Riverwoods, IL.

Tom then spent three years at Griskelis+Smith Architects as a project manager. Projects included medium size commercial projects including Citi Bank branches, Federal Express distribution center, and renovation of loft buildings on the west side of Chicago.

In 1993, he started his own practice in Oak Park specializing in residential architecture. Working in the Chicago area suburbs, he has successfully completed over 100 projects in the Oak Park - River Forest area as well as Wilmette, Winnetka, Elmhurst, Western Springs and LaGrange among others. While Tom has done a small amount of commerical work including The Marion Street Grill and The Buzz Café in Oak Park, the primary work is residential.

While projects include all sizes ranging from dormers and attic renovations to new single family residences, the majority of work is the renovation of and additions to vintage homes. Designs are done with great sensitivity to your existing residence and neighborhood.

Tom is a fully licensed Architect in the State of Illinois, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
